April 24 webcast with climate envoy Stern and presidential assistant Froman
What can we expect from the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate? Representatives of 17 major economies will meet in Washington April 27–28 to prepare for the forum, which is scheduled for July in Italy. Join us April 24 at 10:30 a.m. EDT (14:30 GMT) for a webcast presentation on the upcoming meetings by Todd Stern, President Obama’s special envoy on climate change, and Michael Froman, deputy assistant to the president and deputy national security adviser for international economic affairs.
The Major Economies Forum is expected to help generate the political leadership necessary to achieve a successful outcome at the U.N. climate-change negotiations in Copenhagen in December. Leaders of the 17 major economies at the forum will also discuss initiatives to increase the supply of clean energy while cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
Todd Stern is President Obama’s special envoy on climate change. Previously he served as a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, where he focused on climate change and environmental issues.
Michael Froman is deputy assistant to President Obama and deputy national security adviser for international economic affairs, a position held jointly at the National Security Council and the National Economic Council. His responsibilities include serving as the White House liaison to the G7, G8 and G20 summits of economic powers.
