U.S. Representative to OAS Will Discuss Summit of the Americas

The Fifth Summit of the Americas will be held in Trinidad and Tobago in April. On March 30, at 2 p.m. EDT (18:00 GMT), the United States’ permanent representative to the Organization of American States, Ambassador Hector Morales, will talk about the OAS, the upcoming summit and what the future holds for the relationships among OAS member states.

Hector E. Morales Jr. was confirmed on March 6, 2008, as U.S. permanent representative to the OAS. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Inter-American Foundation, an independent foreign assistance agency of the U.S. government that promotes equitable and responsive grassroots development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Previously, he served as U.S. executive director to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and as alternate U.S. executive director to the IDB. He has nearly 20 years of experience in U.S. commerce in the Americas, both as a businessman and as a lawyer.
