State Dept. Official Will Continue Discussion on Future of NATO

March 27 webchat with principal deputy assistant secretary Marcie Ries

 

In this second webchat in a series celebrating the 60th anniversary of NATO, State Department official Marcie Ries will continue the discussion of what the future holds for the multilateral organization and its members. The webchat will take place on March 27 at 10 a.m. EDT (14:00 GMT).

Marcie Berman Ries is the principal deputy assistant secretary for European and Eurasian affairs at the U.S. Department of State. A senior foreign service officer with 31 years of experience in Europe, the Caribbean and the Middle East, she is a specialist in national security and political-military matters and has extensive experience dealing with NATO, arms control, the Balkans and Iraq. She was chief of mission in Kosovo and U.S. ambassador to Albania. She also has served for a year as a Pearson Fellow in the Office of the Chairman of the House International Relations Committee.
