Energy Expert Will Look at Global Energy Trends

March 26 webcast of digital videoconference with CSIS adviser Guy Caruso

The recent Russia/Ukraine shutdown of gas pipelines has caused an energy crisis in Europe. In light of this, on March 26 at 10 a.m. EDT (14:00 GMT the U.S. Embassy in Vienna will present a digital videoconference on energy, with specific focus on gas and oil. Both the Nabucco gas pipeline and OPEC are headquartered in Vienna, and experts from both organizations have been invited. The audience will be top experts in the energy field. The guest will be energy expert Guy Caruso.

Guy F. Caruso is currently a senior adviser in the Energy and National Security Program of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, having served as executive director of the CSIS Strategic Energy Initiative from 1998 to 2000. Before rejoining CSIS, he had served since February 2002 as administrator of the Energy Information Administration, the statistical agency within the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) that provides independent data, forecasts and analyses on energy. He has more than 30 years of energy experience, with particular emphasis on energy markets, policy and security. He first joined DOE as a senior energy economist in the Office of International Affairs and soon became director of the Office of Market Analysis.
