Webchat To Examine Impact of Globalization on Cultural Diversity

Professor Tyler Cowen also to discuss U.S. funding of the arts

As the world's peoples adjust to increased globalization, concerns about the impact on cultural diversity are surfacing with increasing regularity.

During a February 15 webchat, Tyler Cowen, professor of economics at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, and general director of the James M. Buchanan Center for Political Economy, will answer questions about U.S. cultural diversity, how America funds the arts, the effect of globalization on culture and the proposed UNESCO Convention on the Promotion and Protection of Cultural Diversity.

The online dialogue is sponsored by the State Department’s International Information Programs (IIP).

More information about Cowen may be found on the university Web site.
