“Secretary Clinton is going to be talking about ... the empowerment of women in South Africa, and I’m very interested because, as a woman, with my background in science — I’m a scientist — and I find that a lot of women do not have [the same] opportunities as their male counterparts.

For example, research is not … sort of accommodating them ’cause they have to try and balance work with their family life, and it is not as easy [for women] as it is for men.

So maybe if she — during her visits and her talk with her [counterparts] in South Africa — she can talk about a lot more about women empowerment, so that women can be able to stand on their own and be able to show what they can do. Because a lot of South African women, they are resilient, and from their background, they can do anything.  So I would like to see something in that avenue.”
