Organizations That Promote Diversity

 

Association of MultiEthnic Americans (AMEA)
An international nonprofit association of organizations dedicated to advocacy, education and collaboration on behalf of the multiethnic, multiracial and transracial adoption community.

U.S. Census Bureau
The mission of the Bureau of the Census is "to be the preeminent collector and provider of timely, relevant, and quality data about the people and economy of the United States."

Center for Advancement of Racial & Ethnic Equity, American Council on Education (ACE)
Monitors and reports on the progress of African Americans, Latinos, Asian Americans and American Indians in postsecondary education and works to improve their educational and employment opportunities in higher education. This page has links to publications such as the annual Status Report on Minorities in Higher Education (pdf).

Center for Immigration Studies (CIS)
Independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit research organization focusing on the economic, social, demographic, fiscal and other impacts of immigration on the United States. CIS “is animated by a pro-immigrant, low-immigration vision which seeks fewer immigrants but a warmer welcome for those admitted."

Center on Labor, Human Services & Population, Urban Institute
The Center on Labor, Human Services & Population analyzes demographic changes in the U.S. population and employment and income trends, and evaluates programs dealing with homelessness, child welfare and job training.

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
The department’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion provides links to a wide variety of diversity organizations.

DisabilityInfo.Gov
This Web site is an online guide to the federal government’s disability-related information and resources.

DiversityInc
A print and online publication whose mission is “to bring education and clarity to the business benefits of diversity.” The DiversityInc Foundation funds scholarships for financially disadvantaged students.

Foundation for Ethnic Understanding
A national nonprofit “dedicated to strengthening relations between ethnic communities." The foundation's work focuses primarily on Black-Jewish relations, but has recently expanded to include Latino-Jewish relations. The Web site includes curriculum guides and teaching materials.

Population Association of America
This organization of 3,000 professionals publishes the quarterly journal Demography and promotes research related to human population problems.  It provides links to other Web sites for research on population issues.

Population Reference Bureau (PRB)
Provides timely and objective information on U.S. and international population trends and their implications. Useful publications include Data Sheets, Policy Briefs, Population Bulletins, the Population Handbook (pdf), and Reports on America.  

Population Studies Center, University of Michigan
One of the oldest population research centers in the United States, PSC engages an interdisciplinary community of scholars in the field of population studies. The Information Services page links to online population, demographic and reference resources.
