Palestinian State Possible in 2008
Meeting with Palestinian and Israeli leaders, President Bush expressed confidence that the creation of a democratic Palestinian state may be possible by the end of the year.

Troop Draw Down Begins in Iraq
Security conditions have improved enough in Iraq that the United States has begun the drawdown of U.S. combat troops from Diyala province. "The redeployment without replacement reflects overall improved security within Iraq, as well as improved capabilities of the Iraqi security forces and the emergence of concerned local citizens," Navy Rear Admiral Gregory Smith says. United States Sends Relief to Bangladesh
The United States is sending naval ships and $2.1 million in emergency relief supplies to Bangladesh to help the victims of Cyclone Sidr, which ravaged the country's southern coast. American officials have expressed condolences and sympathies to the victims while two Navy warships carrying helicopters for relief operations steam toward the coast of Bangladesh. (More)
